Just an update on my little lassie Saylee. In March of this year it will be a year since we received her first diagnosis. Lately Ive been reflecting a little on how far she's really come since then. Not only has she grown so much (don't they grow so fast??) but she has accomplished so much. I'll just fill you in on the most recent.
About a month ago, her speech therapist told us that she didn't think she was the right fit for Saylee anymore; so she stopped coming. I was upset but a little glad because Saylee didnt liked her very much. So we havent had speech therapy for awhile because its SO hard to find an available therapist. She still see's two other therapists a week as well as her Chiropractor once a week (used to be 2). Shes only on 3 sometimes 4 supplements a day (used to be 9-10) and Im happy to say she is off her diet and doing great!! Taking her off her diet was a decision Dus and I came to awhile ago because we wanted to see EXACTLY what foods affected her in what way, plus we just couldnt afford it anymore. I think a few months ago when we had her on tons of gut medication, we fixed whatever was malfunctioning in her little tummy and now shes doing fine...for now! (crossing my fingers!)
Shes quite the fan of jumping on the bed now. She only jumps one foot at a time but it looks cute and she looks happy! Here she is on Brodys bed.
We're still working on her outside stimming. She loves to go outside but 9 out of 10 times, she'll sit in the grass/ dirt and visually stim on it. I know she's having fun and I've grown patient to the "big girl o' dirt" that she turns into but I still REALLY want to get her on that playground!
Everytime I see her smile I count my blessings! There are so many autistic children out there that arent capable of a smile or a laugh...that is not the case with Saylee. Shes generally always been simple to please and I think that her laughter and our ability to communicate through laugh has helped in her recovery.
Shes also obseesed with shoes. Other peoples shoes! Its pretty cute to see her try and put them on then manage to walk in these bulky shoes. Her little personality is starting to shine and she's much funnier that I ever gave her credit for! I wonder who she got that from??
Saylees sensory issues are almost non exsistent! 9 months ago if you touched her lips or she put her hand in syrup she would have a panic attack. Now shes much more comfortable with things on her body (hats, necklace/bracelet) If I could only get her to keep clips/bows in her hair! I love this picture because with this mask on she looks exactly like Brody does when he wears it.
"Juice!!"... sometimes she will say Juice instead of cheese and hold a pose when I take a pic. I love that she is semi-posing for the camera. I REALLY REALLY REALLY more than anything want to get some family pics done. Ones without Saylee being blurred becauses shes squirming or screaming, etc. Its something we'll continue to work on.
Everyday she gets bigger and bigger and she's so beautiful that it melts my heart to see her happy. I really want to have another girl so Saylee will have a best friend. With the rate my kids are going, they'll look just like each other!
