15 & 54

This is my mom, Leah. 15 years ago today she fufilled her work here on this earth. She passed away pain free from breast cancer. Sadly also, today is her birthday...she'd be turning 54. I remember vividly the last time I saw her, Im thankful that I burned it into my memory. I remember saying my goodbye and telling her that I loved her while I watched her sleep in a coma. I remember waking up suddenly at 4:25 am only to hear the phone ring. I already knew who was on the other end and I already knew what they were going to tell my dad. Having 15 days for 15 years to ponder on these memories has shed 15 new lights in my life.
Im thankful that I had her as long as I did. I know I was young, but not young enough to NOT remember her, that in itself is a blessing. I try to think of different questions I would ask here if given the chance just once a year. By doing that I try to celebrate the everyday with my mama, not just the bad. Here is a few glimpse into my amazing mother, whom I know is with me now. Mom, I love you and thank you for giving me the strength to be the mom you know I am, even when I dont think I can.

I remember her handwriting

I celebrate her milestones

I love that we have common intrests!!

I thank my protector

but I miss my mom...

Happy Birthday mom, you are truly the best!

A Christmas Miracle...well sort of!

The following picture you are about to see has not been altered in anyway...
I woke up this morning with no idea that I was to be part of a christmas fact I myself would create this christmas miracle. Lo and behold your eyes on this picture...

Saylee let me put her hair in a ponytail for the FIRST TIME in her life!! No crying, no shaking of the head, no ripping out of the hair, just a relaxed little girl getting her hair done! I offically feel like a true mom! I have yet to experience the "doing of your daughters hair"...until today!!

See how much she loves it!!
My little Say has been doing so well, she's growing into a little lady. She wears my bracelets and she'll FINALLY wear her winter cap...

She will say "cheese!" for the camera and hold a pose! (at least for a couple of seconds!) I think she's going to be a model, she's such a natural she even poses in her sleep!

She ALWAYS falls asleep on this bench after therapy!

Here is a pic of my only Christmas cheer, its a nine footer and it's awesome! Thanks Kristy!!

One of my favorite ornaments!

It's my only Christmas cheer because im still working on the house. On my birthday last week I was blessed enough to have Lindsay (she's magic) and Mandi (she's beautiful) come to my house and help me get some stuff up. But first, here are a few projects Ive done all on my lonesome!

I got this mirror for 5 bones! I don't have a before pic but the frame was busted on the right middle side. With a little hot glue, magic putty ( I love that stuff) some ribbon and a flower its now officailly a mirror for Saylee to dance in front of!

I extended the ribbon down the side to hold her bows

Here is a lamp I got from Lindsay and I covered the shade in some fabric I had. I got this table from Mandi for my bday and I love it! Right now its in Saylees room but I hope to find a permanent place for it in the family room.

Okay, here is my biggest wall in my family room. I cant take credit for this, Lindsay and Mandi put it all together. I can take credit for the "H"... It added the final touch!

The pic of the old man on the adjacent wall is none other than Jorth Eugene Schlink III, who is my great grandfather x 8!! He was a prestigous general in the civil war as part of the 131st infaltry who helped defeat our northern enemies in an important battle. Or he's just some old dude I found at the thrift store for 7 dollars! He has a permanent spot in my sewing room with his wife (who is too creepy looking to post) but for now he's a filler on a wall until we can get family pics.

This wall is just getting started, this was black but I painted it gold...why?...'cause....I LOVE GOLD!!

Nemo can suck it!!

The first chapter of home repairs is complete! We finished painting this weekend and Im not going to post any pics until I get crap on the walls!! (not real crap...pretty crap!) Heres a few shots of our weekend escapade..

You might be saying, "I cant see anything!" Thats because while I was sanding the walls (behind wallpaper = drywall which meant we had to texture and sand before painting) the dang dust catcher bag filled up and basically exploded. This meant that everything in my house was covered in dust in a matter of minutes! We had food out, my laptop, tons of sucked. This is what you could see...nothing!

Minutes before the explosion!!

This happened around 1:30am on friday night, we were getting tired!

This would be 3:17 AM and we're still going strong. P.S. this went on for 2 nights, not just one!!

So most people would say, "good job me! Lets take a day or two to relax and refresh ourself." However I say, " with sleep later, lets keep going!!" So I decide to start on the bathroom. Side note....I have all the Koelles coming over for an early Thanksgiving this Sunday, its conviently my month to host dinner!... My bathroom currently has this going on, its an "early Nemo/under the sea circa 1994" and Its grotesque. The bottom is curling up and along with my blue base boards and dirty walls, this bathroom needs some attention...

Now lately, when I hear the word wallpaper, my face automatically does this...

Thats my evil twitch after about 2 WEEKS of not sleeping! (arent I a beaut?)

I started on the bathroom assuming it would be easy, but that would be too much to ask for. Nemo and his friends do not wish to leave, they are coming off in shreds instead of sheets, here is some evidence.

And this is how it makes me feel...

and this....

So what do I do?...I quit! Then twenty minutes later, I go back into the trenches of the sea and really start to work. About an hour later I had an 1/8 of my mission accomplished and that was good enough to call it a night. Too frustrated by Nemo, I couldn't sleep. So I just close my eyes and says two little words...
and then I feel like this...

Tommorrow I'll be standing in line sporting my Twilight tee with my extra pair of jeans in my purse, just in case I get too excited!...will you be there?

A side dish story

As most of you know, my house (not quite yet a home) is in a state of chaos. My kitchen is covered in dust therefore no cooking has been done. This last weekend while Dustin was out and about, he picked up some El Pollo Loco for dinner.
We all sat down, me with my Nachos and the kids with their chicken and corn. Dustin got a small side of mashed potatoes because he is usually the only one who eats them. For some reason that day, Brody was jivin' with them potatoes becuase he kept asking for more and more. His usual request sounds like this, "more potatoes please!" simple enough, appropriate enough. Dus and I started telling Brodes that potatoes can come in all shapes and forms: french fries, mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, potatoes in soup, etc. We told him that he was eating mashed potatoes at that moment and asked him to repeat it...but he ignored us. About a minute later we hear Brodys new request...
"More ass potatoes please!"
It was Awesome!!

superheroes, sad days and sucky walls!!

This is another Honer 5 update...I've been too busy to blog about any specific thing (I am keeping a list however!) so heres a bunch of pictures to match a bunch of info!!
Halloween came and went... we had so much fun taking the kids trick or treating around the neighboorhood. Everyone did a great job. Saylee walked with us door to door (we were totally surprised slash delighted!!) Brody hit about 10 houses then said, "Ok, lets go home!" and Grady just chilled and had a fun time looking at all the costumes!!

You cant see but I covered his white DVS in black fabric (even on the soles) He was slipping and sliding all over the was awesome!

I made Grady a Robin outfit to match Brodys. I made a black mask for his eyes but that lasted all of 6 seconds! He slept alot the night so I didnt get a group shot!

Her arm is the result of being unsupervised for 30 mins (its pen) and its ALL over her arm! My little lady was Wonderwomen, appropriate I thought. She actually wore every accesory to this costume, I was tickled!!

The boot covers kept slipping, her head piece kept coming off, her dress creepin up...she looked liked a drunk Wonderwomen after a long night of par-tayin!!
The following day we packed up and moved from our home of almost 3 years. I was sad but only for a couple of minutes...we were way outgrowing it. When we moved in Brody couldnt even walk and now we have a bushel of children and nowhere to put them! I was a crappy move (arent they all?) but now were settled in our new home and Im super excited and tired!

downstairs during the chaos

One last ride on the scooter....

The sprinklers came and those two boxes in the grass got soaked! I got blamed of coarse!

I've been doing alot of work in our new house. We are renting and our landlords are supercool. The house is pretty much covered in wallpaper and they are letting us take it down and paint whatever as long as its nuetral. No more blue then I guess!! Our backyard is insanely huge and needs alot of work, however it has MAD potential. I dont have any pics now but they are coming I promise!! We have a natural gas fireplace outside and during the move Dus found an old rusty dutch oven!!...(can anyone say cobla and ice cream!!!)

The kids got these cars for Christmas last year and are just now using them!!

Nixon and Corndog love all the space, they have done really well with the move!!

Okay, here is the dining room attached to the kitchen. Every ounce of this kitchen/dining is covered in this crap! Its a vine/grape/wine print and its overwhelming!!!

This is the one wall in the family room...its a floral print! Totally clashes with the kitchen. The brown to match this print is getting painted over as well.

First strip down, about a million left to go!! Once I started I couldnt stop, it was like peeling the skin off a big back!! I loved it, until that is I discovered a second layer of wallpaper in the family room and had to peel off more and more and more. Then I had to spray the walls and take down the paper that goes behind sucked but I got it all down...yay me! I did all the grunt work so I say its my choice of paint color!...we'll see how well Dus handles that one!!

Heres the family room after

Heres the dining after. It looks so much better! I was thinking about painting the chair rail white but It matches all the cabinets so I dont know. Im going to be asking alot of advice of decor because Im changing our look from contemporary to pretty shabby, if Dustin and I dont divorce or it first!! Hes the only husband in the world that wants EVERYTHING to do with EVERYTHING when it comes to decorating our home, its endlessly frustrating!! There is also wallpaper in the bathroom, playroom and one of the kids room so theres still work to be done and I'll be posting my progress!
