the alterations of ready-made garments
I got this shirt 50% off around christmas time. It was really loose up on my shoulders which was basically undetectable with a cardigan. However, the more I pulled on the shoulder, the bigger this giant gap would form right on my bust. I got a large (needing the length) but this shirt called for someone with jugs when I am in fact a member of the itty-bitty titty committee.
I didn't have time to take a before shot. Use your imagination.
From measuring to pinning to unstitching to sewing, project was finished in about 2 hours. Much faster than I thought, especially for my first alteration.
I had to unstitch topstitching along the lace hem, remove the lace and measure my new darts. This fabric wasn't ideal, it slipped alot, but whatev.
Now it fits much better. It's not perfect but if I need to take it in more, I know how! This class is very laid back. Students are bringing in husbands, friends, family all to measure and work on during class, utilizing our professor's expertise while she's there. It's pretty cool.
If you need anything altered and aren't busy on a Tuesday night, roll up MCC style and I'll make you right, ya heard?
